Way of Remembering 2027
A return to ancestral knowledge, healing, culture, community and remembrance in West Africa.
January 2 – 16, 2027 · Benin & Togo
The Program
What the Way of Remembering is.
The Way of Remembering is a journey of healing, rehumanization and spiritual awakening — returning Black youth and global allies to the ancestral origins of humanity in West Africa.
It combines a free online preparatory curriculum with an in-person pilgrimage and immersion in Benin and Togo. The curriculum grounds participants in true history, indigenous and traditional healing, African cosmology, symbols, ritual and identity. The pilgrimage carries that learning into place — sacred and historic sites, time with traditional knowledge keepers and elders, ceremony, and community.
The inner architecture of the journey is the five steps to rehumanization: Recognition, Repentance, Reparation, Reconciliation and Rehumanization. Preparation is cultural, historical and spiritual — participants arrive ready, and travel together as a community.

Two Phases
Prepare, then return.

Online Curriculum & Preparation
- Twelve modules of cultural, historical and spiritual preparation
- True history of West Africa and the legacy of severance
- Healing the African way — ritual, community, ancestral practice
- Symbols, FA divination, the cycle of life, ancestral prayer
- Community building with fellow participants before travel

In-Person Pilgrimage
- Immersion in Benin and Togo with the travelling community
- Reception and sessions with King Xwla Xolugbo Meto Ahoussan IX
- Sacred and historic sites, including ancestral lands and shrines
- Learning with traditional healers, priests and knowledge keepers
- Ceremony, festival, water rites and community celebration
